WhatsApp has recently added a new feature called Hands-Free Voice Recording with its public beta update. Now, the IM giant has rolled out yet another features within the Public Beta update. According to this new update, users will be able to notify the contacts if you change your cellphone number. Yes, there will be a new option which lets all the contacts know about your new WhatsApp number instantly.
WhatsApp has been continuously changing with new features. In fact, the giant is rolling out regular updates for both, Android and iOS users. The new WhatsApp Beta update adds a couple of new features and this one’s much needed one for the users who frequently change their cellphone number and hence the WhatsApp number.
This new feature is already rolling out with latest Android beta version 2.18.97 of the app. The same update will be made available for iOS and Windows Phone platform users very soon. For now, the new update is rolled out for the Android users. If you’ve been using an Android device and want to test out this new feature, you need to install its APK file first and then you will be able to make use of this new feature on your smartphone.
The new WhatsApp update is reported by WABetaInfo. They have also shared the APK file and the screenshots of this new feature on the devices. The new update has been made through server side. As per the testing the new update offers three different options to let them know regarding your new contact number.
While changing your WhatsApp number, the new addition will ask you to notify All contacts, Contacts I have Chat with and Custom. The first option sends out the notification to all the contacts which are available in your cellphone. The second option will only notify the users with whom you have chatted previously. The third option lets you pick some of the contacts from your phonebook and it will then send out the notification to the selected numbers. In order to make use of this new feature, first you need to update the existing WhatsApp application with the newly launched Public Beta version. Once you update the app on a respective device, just go to the WhatsApp Settings option and then select Account. After that, select Change Number. After this, tap on to the Next button at the top right corner.
The next page will let you enter your old phone number and the new phone number. Fill out the details properly with the new and old both the numbers. After this, tap on to the Next button given at the upper right corner. Here, you could see a Toggle button with the above mentioned options. Select the Toggle button and enable Notify My Contacts feature from there. Once enabled, select any of the above given options and you’ll be done!
The selected contacts will receive a notification regarding the new number of yours. They will be able to start chatting with you right away on your new cellphone number.
Since the new updated WhatsApp Public Beta app is already available, you can go ahead and download it from the Google Play Store’s page. Apart from this, you can even download its APK file as well. You need to manually install the APK file to your Android device to make use of this new feature.
