Verizon rolls out Android Oreo update for LG V30, LG G6 gets new Security Update


LG Electronics has just launched their upgraded, LG V30s ThinQ smartphone in South Korea. The company has announced this smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. Today, Verizon has officially rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V30 smartphone. 

In the last December, the LG V30 has received the official Android 8.0 Oreo update to their home country, i.e. in South Korea. Now, Verizon Wireless is pushing the update for the users of the United States of this popular LG’s smartphone, the LG V30.

If you have purchased the LG V30 smartphone a long ago in the United States and it is running on Verizon’s network, you would receive the much awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the smartphone.

Many users of the LG V30 smartphone in the US have posted the screenshots regarding this update so we can confirm that the new Android Oreo update is in full swing for the Verizon’s users of the LG V30 device.

According to reports, Verizon’s Android 8.0 Oreo update for LG V30 smartphone comes with a version number VS99620a. Being a major Android update, the new Android 8.0 Oreo update for LG V30 smartphone weighs 1.7GB of size. So before to make up your mind to upgrade your device, make sure your device has at least 2.5GB of free space to install this new update. Since the update weighs pretty high, you need to be connected with high-speed Internet connection so you won’t be interrupted in between the process.

There have been many rumors that the device would receive the Android 8.1 update, however this is the original Android 8.0 Oreo update and not the Android 8.1 update. However, the users will definitely receive an update for the Android 8.1 as well sometime in the near future.

The update also includes the February Month Security Patch for the device which is indeed a good thing. However, they should have released the March Month Security Update as we are already in the March month. The February Month Security Update fixes all the bugs and other issues on the devices.

Apart from this, the same February Month Security Patch update rolled out for the LG G6 smartphones. Yes, if you have purchased the LG G6 smartphone through Verizon, you would also receive the Security Update on your device. Keep in mind that, the LG G6 users will only receive a Security update and not the Android 8.0 Oreo update for now.

Verizon has released this update via OTA for the users of the United States. So the users will likely to receive a push notification regarding the same. Once you see a push notification on the device, just tap it out and you would be presented a download page of this update. Select the download button and follow basic instructions to install the update to your device after that.

You can even check for the update manually. Just go to your Apps menu and launch the Settings App. Scroll down and select About Phone option from the Settings Menu. Now, select Software update option and then select Check for new update manually option. The system will start checking for the new update for your devices. If the update is available for your device, it will show up right there on your display. You would be able to install the update to your device by following the above instructions.
