UK-based mobile network EE unveils two affordable 4G smartphones


UK’s biggest mobile network has unveiled two new smartphones Harrier and Harrier Mini, which the company claims to be the cheapest 4G smart phone with WiFi calling features.



Harrier is the network’s new affordable flagship device. The phone sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display, an octa-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, a 13-megapixel camera and a 2500mAh battery. It runs on the latest Android version Lollipop and features CAT 4 chipset technology which ensures users to access EE’s 4G double speed network, offering real world download speeds of up to 60Mbps.

The Harrier is set to launch on April 28th and will cost GBP 200 on PAYG, with the handset free on 4GEE plans starting at GBP 22 per month. It will be available to small businesses as well.

Harrier Mini:

The other phone Harrier Mini is the most affordable smartphone in the UK with access to WiFi calling. It is a compact version with 4.7inch screen and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and sports an 8 megapixel rear camera. This phone also runs on Lollipop version of Android. The Mini is set to hit the market on the same date as the other phone and is priced GBP 99.99 on pre-paid tariff or free on 4G plans from GBP 16.99.

CEO of EE, Pippa Dunn said, “Customer take-up of our existing EE branded products has been phenomenal, so we have worked hard to create new feature packed devices.” He also added, “The Harrier and Harrier Mini are another big step forward and will allow even more people to benefit from a premium smartphone without the premium price- as well as provide access to a superfast 4G experience that only the UK’s biggest and fastest mobile network can provide.”

Osprey 2 and Osprey 2 Mini:

Apart from the two phone, the company also unveiled its follow-up to 4G WiFi device the Osprey which was released last year. The Osprey 2 and Osprey 2 Mini can offer up to 10 customers with 4G mobile hotspots.

The Osprey 2 is featured with 5.150mAh battery that the company assures will allow up to 15 hours of uninterrupted usage with the Mini being just the compact version of Osprey 2. The Mini version can be personalized with three colored bumpers that comes with the device. The devices can also be used as a portable battery pack, allowing users to give their smartphones or tablets a charging boost.

Osprey 2 is available for free on GBP 13 per month tariff that provides 3GB of data or GBP 69.99 on pre-paid with 6GB of data. The Mini version cost the same on pay monthly deals but GBP 49.99 on pre-paid. Both devices are available to consumer and B2B customers.
