Thync lets users change mood at will


Prescription Drugs and Caffeine are often used to either lower stress or energize you. Then it would seem weird if a device existed that accomplishes the same thing, only you just wear it for a few minutes on your head and that’s it. Thync was co-founded by Isy Goldwasser and Jamie Tyler in 2011, fascinated by how neuroscience can affect daily life. Simply put, Thync is a device that sends low-level electrical pulses through the nerves and muscles in order to modulate the brain to feel energized or to help maintain calm. The process is called Neurosignaling, which is the proprietary technology developed by Thync.

Neuro-Signaling is the coupling of an energy waveform to a neural structure (receptor, nerve or brain tissue) to modulate its activity. These waveforms or Vibes consist of precise algorithms that bias (alter) activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, resulting in a relaxed or energized state of mind. The technology is built upon the best aspects of Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and Trans-cutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS or TNS).

The Thync kit comes with 5 items, the Thync module, 5 calm strips, 5 energy strips, charging cable and a user manual. The module delivers the selected energy Vibes to the strip. This can be selected by using the Thync app on your iPhone. There are various different kinds of vibes available like Awake, Surge, workout, Sleep, Zen etc. When one of the Vibes is selected, the module then delivers the pulses through the connected Calm or Energy Strip which use an adhesive to stick to your skin. The amount of time needed to complete the process differs from which vibe was selected; this can be tracked on the app when initiated.
