Oreo is the official Android O 8.0, starts rollout to devices

Earlier, we have posted that Android is going to announce its new Android O’s actual name on August 21st. And as reported, the official announcement has been made and the new Android O or Android 8.0 has the official Oreo name. Yes, you heard that right, Oreo is the official name of the Android O operating system which was announced in the Google I/O 2017. Fortunately, the update has been rollout to a few Google based devices already. 

In order to announce this new Android O for the devices, Google took this opportunity and hosted an Eclipse-themed event to launch the new and much awaited Android 8.0 Operating System. So it clears off everything as the newly released OS finally got its full name, Android 8.0 Oreo.

Just after its announcements, Google has started rolling out the new Android 8.0 OS update to a few Google based devices including Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C. If you have upgraded your smartphones with the developers preview of this new OS, you will also receive a notification to update your existing device with this latest Android 8.0 Operating System. This update has been rolled out via OTA and it will take some time to reach you out if you haven’t received any message. Just wait for a couple of more days and you would see a message saying  a new update is available for your device.

We have been seeing a lot of small updates regarding this Android O operating system in the past with its different developers preview instalments. With this official announcement, we can able to know the actual name of this Android O Operating System. This update basically makeover the entire Android device with a whole new environment.

The new Android 8.0 update will bring a revamped notification panel with a complete new layout, colors, themes and much more. Google is also trying to clamp down the background applications to improve the battery life of your device. This way your smartphone can run even more smoothly and offer great performance even if you are using a multiple apps.

Apart from this, the new update brings a new settings menu with an improved functionality. A new set of emojis to express your feelings. The new OS will offer faster startup time so you can turn off and on your device in just a matter of seconds. There will be more security functions available in this new Android 8.0 Operating System.

For now, Google will made this new Android 8.0 Operating System limited for Google based devices. If you are using a non-Google device, you have to wait for a few more weeks to get this update officially. However, Google is keeping this new Android O limited to high end devices for now. So, we will not be able to see an Android 8.0 on all the available devices. New upcoming high end devices will surely get the new Android 8.0 out-of-the-box.

Furthermore, we have recently posted about the Nokia 8 smartphone which was just launched in the market by the HMD Global. The company claims that, the users will be able to update their Nokia 8 smartphones with this new Android 8.0 Operating System once it goes official. Well, the update is now official and Nokia 8 smartphones will soon start getting the new Android 8.0 Operating System anytime by now.

If you are using a Google based smartphone, you would receive a push notification regarding this update on your phone’s display. If for some reason, you don’t see any such notification, you can head over to the Settings menu of your device. Go to the About Phone section and select Check for updates option. If there is any update available for your device, you would see it there. You can start downloading this update and by following some basic instructions, you will be able to update your smartphone with the latest Android 8.0 Operating System.
