HMD Global’s entry level smartphone, Nokia 3 gets a new software update. The update brings December Month Security patch for the Nokia 3 smartphone ahead of other devices such as Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8. It is pretty surprising that the company has released this update for Nokia 3 smartphone and not for the other devices.
Many users took to various platforms and posted about this new security update for the device. The update is seen on Nokia 3 smartphone in Indian and a few other regions.
If we talk more about it, the new December Security Patch update weighs 345.4 MB so you need to have at least 500 MB of free space on your device. Just like every other update, it fixes all the bugs and other issues on the phone’s overall User Interface which makes the update a must have update for all the Nokia 3 smartphone users.
Since, HMD Global has already announced about the Oreo update for Nokia 3 smartphone, this update is only came as the normal Security Patch update and not the new Android 7.1.2 Nougat update. The update is pushed through OTA and you will receive a proper notification regarding this update on your device. Once you see a push notification, go ahead and update it by following the simple steps.
If you can’t see any such notification on your device, you can simply go ahead and check for the new update manually. Just head over to the Apps menu and select Settings option. Go to the About Phone option and then select check for update option. The system will start checking for the new update, soon you will see the update if it is available for your region. Just go through simple steps and install the new update to your Nokia 3 phone.
Nokia 3’s new Security update brings a variety of fixes for your device. If we talk about the changelog, the new update fixes many vulnerabilities on your device. The new update also brings system stability with better system performance and enhanced user interface on the device.
Just like Samsung, HMD Global has also made it clear that they will push regular updates on all the Nokia devices for 2 years. So if you purchase a new Nokia device, you will receive regular new updates of the OS and other software related updates for your Nokia phone for 2 years for free.
Nokia 3 becomes the very first Nokia phone to get the December month’s security patch. Being a low-end device, the users have not expected such an update for the device at least for now. But again, the update is made available only for the Nokia 3 smartphone, it is still not clear when will the company release the same update for other Nokia devices.
The Nokia 3 smartphone runs on an Android 7.1.1 Nougat Operating System out of the box. There were talks about the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for the low-end smartphone, but surprisingly, the giant has officially released December month’s security patch for the device. This makes it very clear that the phone will soon get a latest Android Oreo update and that is for sure.
HMD Global has confirmed about skipping the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for this device earlier this month and for that very same reason, we have the December Month’s security patch with a normal system update for Nokia 3 smartphone. Hopefully, we would get to see the Nokia 3’s Oreo update within this current month before the end of the year.
Apart from this, the giant is also preparing for the next Nokia device, i.e. Nokia 9. The new Nokia 9 smartphone may showcase in the year 2018 in January month along with the new Nokia 8 (2018) smartphone.
