Today, Apple has released a new iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1 updates which are officially available to download for respective devices. The new iOS 11.2.1 update is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and the tvOS 11.2.1 update is available for Apple TV. The new update restore HomeKit sharing bug faced by the users with the previous OS.
The new iOS 11.2.1 update is released and available for Apple iPhone 5S and later, iPad Air and later and iPod Touch’s 6th generation. Talking about the tvOS 11.2.1 is available for Apple TV 4 and and other variants supporting 4K resolution.
HomeKit for shared users on iOS devices and tvOS devices have a bug which was encountered by many users from around the world and these new updates are only available to fix this bug on the respective devices. Apple says in the release note, “iOS 11.2.1 fixes bugs including an issue that could disable remote access to shared users of the Home app.”
Apple has recently released its new iOS 11.2 update which was the second major update of iOS 11. The iOS 11.2 update brought Apple Pay Cash with faster Wireless Charging support with 7.5W. And of course, a long list of all bug and the fixes. So most of the people have already upgraded their compatible devices with the stable iOS 11.2 update. Since the new iOS 11.2 update also has some bugs and issues, the giant has promptly released the iOS 11.2.1 update to fix the HomeKit shared issue.
The new iOS 11.2.1 update is available for download over-the-air from the Settings app of a respective iOS devices. You can access and download this update right from the Settings app or just follow the below given path on your device.
Go to : Settings> General > Software Update
Once you select Software Update option, you will see the new update is available there to download. Kindly follow all the basic instructions well during the installation process. Soon, a respective iOS device will be upgraded to the latest iOS 11.2.1 update and it will fix the HomeKit issue on your device right away. Once the update completes, you should reboot your device once to fix everything.
The latest iOS 11.2 has a number of other bugs which are fixed with the new iOS 11.2.1 update on the devices.
If we talk about the HomeKit bug, this bug was allowing users to unauthorized access to HomeKit accessories including smart lock. The issue was fixed by Apple’s server side and with this update, users too can fix this issue. In order to fix this issue, Apple had to disable remote access for shared users. This issue will be fixed with the next update of iOS this week .
With the new update, the HomeKit bug has been fixed and remote access for shared users has been reinstated so users will not face any issues by now while making use of these features on their respective iOS devices. Apple looks good at releasing new updates to fix the issues quickly which is the reason why people are liking the Apple products. With the release of its new iPhones, Apple is working hard to fix every single issue of its users on any update of iOS. We may get to see some more updates in the future by this giant.
If we go back and talk about the original iOS 11 update, Apple has released the iOS 11 update on September 19th for the new iPhones and over 20 different iOS devices. People did like the update and over 52% of compatible devices have upgraded their devices with the latest iOS 11 update as it brings a variety of advanced features including more powerful functions on the device.
