Since, Google has announced its new Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, people around the world get more curious to use it on their respective Android. Note : Before moving on to the installation steps, first you have to download the Factory Image of the Android 8.0 Oreo Operating System for a respective Pixel or Nexus smartphone. Once you get the Factory Image of Android 8.0 Oreo Operating System, make sure to follow below steps on your phone. It’s like prerequisites to install the latest Android OS.
- Make sure to take full backup of your current Android phone, so if something went wrong, you can easily get back your data with the backup.
- Make sure ADB/ Fastboot is configured properly on your Computer. This is the official link from where you can know more about this Android SDK and its installation process.
- You have to download USB Drivers for your device on the computer.
- Make sure the Bootloader is unlocked on your device.
- Enable USB Debugging from your device. Go to : Settings> Applications> Developer Options> Enable USB Debugging

- A proper USB data cable to connect it with the PC

Install Android 8.0 Oreo on Pixel & Nexus
Step 1 :
Make sure to connect your Pixel or Nexus smartphone to the PC by using a proper USB data cable. It is recommended to use the Data cable which comes along with your Phone.
Step 2 :
Once the phone is connected properly, go ahead and Turn it off.
Step 3 :
Now, you have to Start your device with Fastboot mode. If you don’t know how to do so, just follow below path.
Press and Hold Volume down and Power button simultaneously for upto 10 seconds, when you see something on the display, release the buttons. You are in the Fastboot mode of your phone.
Step 4 :
Now, go to your PC and open the downloaded Android 8.0 Oreo Factory Image file. You can extract the Zip file to any location in your PC.
Step 5 :
Now, go to Android SDK’s directory from your computer and select Fast Boot directory folder.
Step 6 :
Go to _OPR6_ folder and copy or paste all the files to the above given Fast Boot Directory on your PC.
Step 7 :
Now, go to the downloaded extract file of the Factory Image and open the folder. After this, type in cmd in the address bar and hit the Enter button to launch Command Prompt Window in your PC.
Step 8 :
Once you see Command Prompt Window to your PC, you need to enter the following commands there.
- Windows : Run flash-all.bat
- Mac: Run flash-all.sh ( In Mac, you have to open the Terminal application in your system)
Step 9 :
After this, the installation process of the new Android 8.0 Oreo Factory Image will take place. Your device will reboot a couple of times during the process.
Step 10 :
Once you see your device with normal screen, you can disconnect it from the PC.
You’re done with the installation process of Android 8.0 Oreo Operating System on your Pixel/ Nexus smartphone. Currently, Android’s this latest Oreo update is available for Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Pixel C. So, if you are using any of these listed devices, you can manually install Android 8.0 Oreo Factory Image to your device by following above given steps.
If for some reason, you are not allowed to install this Factory Image to a respective device, you can give it one more try. Follow the same steps mentioned above and give it one more try and see if it is working for you or not. If it is still not working, you have to wait for an official OTA update for your device. You would be able to receive an official update via OTA with Push Notification. Just check out the below given image and see how it would look like. The update weighs around 1GB, so make sure your device has at least that much free space. While updating your device, keep it charged so the process will not be interrupted due to low battery.
Once you see it, just download the Update when it is available for you and follow simple instructions. Soon, your device will be upgraded with the latest Android 8.0 Oreo Operating System.
