Instagram has quietly added a native payment feature to their application. Yes, you heard that right. The photo sharing giant which is acquired by Facebook, has introduced their new in-app payments feature for commerce. The new Payments service is appeared on a few users as the giant is testing out this feature initially. The global rollout of this payments feature is yet to come.
According to sources, the new payments service will let you add your debit or credit card details. For security, there will be a Pin code facility also available to secure your transactions and other information of your profile. A few other things will be required as initial setup of the app. After this, users will be able to purchase things within the Instagram application.
The app integrates with third parties and the users will be able to purchase things or book certain appointments and more by using this platform.
Initially, there are a limited number of services available for the consumers who have book appointments and can explore things on the platform. This new Payments service is for the business profiles which let users book their required services from the profile. The same was in talk from March 2017 and after a year, the payment service feature is quietly introduced by the giant. The Payment service is currently in test phase and we will have to wait for the public rollout of this update.
Many giant tech blogs have confirmed the availability of this new Payments Service on the Instagram platform. The Payments Settings is visible on the application for some users of Instagram application in the United States. According to sources, the Instagram Payments is backed by Facebook’s Payments services as Instagram is acquired by Facebook.
With this new Payments services, Instagram will attract more advertisers and this way they will start generation more revenues within their new platform. More brands will join this platform and will urge the consumers to go and buy their products through Instagram at ease.
If we talk about the same platform, Facebook has started this service in the year 2013. After that, the giant has started peer-to-peer payments service within their Facebook Messenger app. Gradually, the payments service is pushed to all the Facebook acquired platforms. The same Payments option is now available on WhatsApp in many countries.
In the coming months, thousands of businesses will join this platform as mentioned above. Instagram has over a Billion active users daily who engages more and more with the platform. By providing the shopping facility and easy payment option, consumers would definitely going to like this new payments service by Instagram.
Sadly, there is no any information about the availability of this new feature on the public domain. The same is current in its testing phase and after completing this stage, the giant will release their Payments Service to public domain.
