First update for Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ is here with March Month Security Update


Samsung’s newly announced high-end premium smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones get their very first software update. Yes, the new Galaxy S9 phones has already arrived for the people who have preordered them. The company has made the device available in various markets already ahead of the availability of the same for the US consumers. Now, the company has rolled out the first March Month Security Update for the smartphones. 

When you first turn on your newly bought, Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ smartphones, a new software awaits for you at the startup. Yes, when you press the power button to start your device, you would see a new update is waiting for your device with March Month’s security update.

The March Month’s Security update has a bunch of fixes for general Google based issues for the Android operating system and for Samsung’s own applications and other functions ahead of their global roll out in the markets.

Furthermore, the new March Month’s Security Update is currently available for the consumers of these phones in Germany. We expect the same update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones in the coming weeks for other regions around the world as well.

If we talk about the firmware version, the new March Month Security Update for Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone comes with firmware version number G960FXXU1ARC5, while the same update is available for Samsung Galaxy S9+ smartphone comes with firmware version number G965FXXU1ARC5.

The new March Month’s security Update for the newly launched Galaxy S9 phones rolls out via OTA. Being an OTA update, the users of these devices would receive a push notification regarding the new update on their respective Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ smartphones. Once available, select the notification and you would be presented a home page of the update. Get the right information about the update and hit the Download button.

The update weighs around 242MB in size and requires at least that much space available on the device. After downloading the update, by following simple instructions, you would be able to install it on your device.

If you haven’t received the same update to your new Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ smartphones, you should check for the same manually through your device. Just go to the Apps menu and launch the Settings app. Scroll down and then select Software option. Now, select Check for update manually option from this menu. The system will check for the new update and if it shows there, you can simply download it and update it to your device just like the above instructions.

If you are quite familiar with Samsung’s Smart Switch service, you would be able to install the update through this service as well. It’s pretty easy and available for everyone.
