BBC’s iPlayer supports all kind of hardware and devices in order to bring its content to large number of audiences, but it never supported Apple TV. The Apple TV customers are forced to use AirPlay from their iPhones and iPads to watch the iPlayer contents on Apple TV, which is quite frustrating. Now, this is going to change in coming months, as BBC has confirmed that its iPlayer service is coming to Apple TV in few months.
BBC has announced that the iPlayer app is coming to the latest Apple TV. Still, we don’t know much detail about this Apple TV support. Tony Hall, the Director General of BBC said to BBC, “Available on over 10,000 devices, BBC iPlayer is one of the biggest and best on-demand video services in the world, and has transformed how UK audiences watch programmes online, i am delighted that iPlayer will be coming to the new Apple TV in the coming months, helping to bring the BBC’s distinctive and loved content to an even wider audience.”
The unavailability of iPlayer app on Apple TV has been a very frustrating problem for Apple TV owner in UK. So, this is surely a very good news for British folks, still we don’t know when exactly this iPlayer app will come to Apple TV, as the company has not announced much detail.
