Facebook is again on the headlines this time with new feature and not the new scandal. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has officially released a statement and updated the way how third party applications misusing the data of Facebook’s profiles. Today, we have come across to a new Unsend Feature on the Facebook Messenger.
Facebook Messenger is undoubtedly one of the most popular Messaging cum communication platform. The Messenger lets you make video calls, voice calls and much more. Facebook is constantly how the Messenger works and how they can improve its functionality for the millions of users around the globe.
According to TechCrunch’s report, the social networking giant, Facebook is working on a new feature called Unsend Messages for the Facebook Messenger platform. According to this feature, the users will be able to delete the messages which were accidentally sent out to the recipients. You don’t have to worry about the messages sent by you accidentally.
As per their official statement, “We have discussed this feature several times. And people using our secret message feature in the encrypted version of Messenger have the ability to set a timer — and have their messages automatically deleted. We will now be making a broader delete message feature available. This may take some time. And until this feature is ready, we will no longer be deleting any executives’ messages. We should have done this sooner — and we’re sorry that we did not.”
After releasing the report on Facebook’s secret feature on the Messenger, the giant has officially released their statement regarding the availability of the new Unsend feature on Facebook Messenger. To address this, they have said that this new Unsend messages feature will be available for public in the coming months. They are shaping it for the public use and hence it is yet not available for the testers as well.
Apparently, the Unsend feature is only available to use for a few Facebook’s executives including the CEO himself. They make use of this feature to protect their communication.
Many of the executives and users have come up and confirmed that the messages which they have received from Mark’s own profile are gone. Yes, without deleting those messages, they have completely disappeared from the Chat section. This questions the availability of Unsend feature to the giant and their developers.
Facebook gave TechCrunch this statement upon asking about the Unsend feature, “After Sony Pictures’ emails were hacked in 2014 we made a number of changes to protect our executives’ communications. These included limiting the retention period for Mark’s messages in Messenger. We did so in full compliance with our legal obligations to preserve messages.”
Many of the users have been questioning the same thing about the availability of this Unsend feature for the CEO and other executives and not the other public.
In addition to this, Facebook has also said that the feature is not yet finalised and it will take a couple of months or even more time to finish it for the public platform. Some insider’s report suggest that, Facebook would allow the users to set the timer for the messages. This will automatically delete the messages after the timer finishes. If this is to be true, then it would be definitely a good feature for all the users across the world. This will help the users to keep their communication secured and safe.
In the coming months, Facebook will introduce this Unsend feature for all the Messenger users. Sadly, we don’t have much information about this feature as of now, still we hope to see some more from the officials in the coming days.
