Essential Phone receives February Security Update

Google has just released February Month’s Security update for the Pixel and Nexus smartphones. After one day of its official announcement, Essential has also announced that the same February Security update is available for the Essential Phone. Being a product of Android’s co-founder, Essential Phone users are getting the update very quickly.

The new Software Update carrying February Security update is coming up with build number NMK24B for the Essential Phones. The giant has already released this update via OTA.

If we talk about the other updates, the giant is still working on the stable version of Android 8.0 Oreo update for the device. Essential has released three open beta updates of its Oreo update for the users of the Essential Phone. Despite of delaying this main update, the giant is serving the new February Month’s security update which is indeed a welcoming step.

Essential Phone is getting regular software updates to improve the security of the devices and for that reason, there are still people who like to purchase the Essential Phone. Latest Security Improvements are getting this February Security update at the earliest soon after the Google based devices i.e. Pixel and Nexus.

Essential has announced this new update through their official Twitter handle. The update weighs around 65MB in size and is there with security for your device with minor bug fixing.

As per the official tweet, “We’re rolling out a software update (NMK24B) that includes February 2018 Security Patches from Google.” You too can find out the live Tweet made by the Essential from here.

Apart from this, Sprint users of Essential Phone who were stuck with November month’s security update are also getting the new February Month’s security update. So the update is rolled out for all the Essential Phone users.

Some rumors suggest that the giant is still working on the Oreo update. According to some sources, Essential will release the Android 8.1 Oreo update instead of the Android Oreo update so you will directly get the Android 8.1 Oreo update on your Essential Phone and there will be no Android 8.0 Oreo update after all.

The update should arrive as a push notification on your phone’s display. When you see such notification, just select it out and you will be taken to the download page. Here you could see the Changelog with a Download button. Select the Download button and the update will be downloaded to your device. Follow basic instructions to install this update to your Android device.

Apart from this, you can even check for the same update manually right from your device. Just go to the Apps menu and select the Settings menu. Scroll down until you see the About Phone option. Select Software update and check for Check for the new update manually. Your device will be updated itself with February Month’s Security patch.
