Asus launched their very popular Zenfone 3 Max around three months back, and now they might soon be back with its upgraded version, Zenfone 3s Max.  The very first Zenfone Max was introduced by Asus in 2015 which featured a long lasting battery life. However, the Zenfone 3s Max will be way better than that.

Asus Zenfone 3s Max will come with a whopping 5000mAh battery which is 900 mAh more when compared to Zenfone 3 Max.  W can expect some small changes in design as well as internal specifications as well. The Zenfone 3 series have different models possessing their own special features like camera, design, battery etc., but Asus Zenfone 3s Max is an all-rounder smartphone with some impressive features.

Design

Asus should have bought the metal design in its smartphones earlier, but its not very late. Zenfone 3s Max smartphone will boasts a full metal unibody design which offers a  solid and sturdy feeling and strong chassis.

The new thing in the Zenfone 3s Max will be that the company has finally let go the capacitive buttons. The new buttons are present on the screen with just a fingerprint scanner below the display. Yes, the Zenfone 3s Max will have the fingerprint scanner on the front and not on the back like the predecessor.

The smartphone has 75% screen to body ratio and won’t be very thin, in case you are looking for a slim smartphone. 3s Max weighs 175 grams, which is not at all light. However, it is something you will have to deal with if you want a phone with such huge battery life.

Display

Asus ZenFone 3s Max has a 5.2 inch IPS display with 720p display resolution. There is also a 2.5D curved glass on the top of the phone. We are a bit disappointed as a full HD display resolution would have made the device spectacular, but the display is still sharp and vibrant with 450 nits brightness and great viewing angles. However, you could find the contrast and colours a bit dull as well.

Hardware

Zenfone 3s Max will bepowered by a 1.5 GHz MediaTek 64-bit MT6750 processor assisted with 3GB RAM offering smooth and seamless experience to the users. Here too, Asus could have used the powerful processor chipset like its competitors, still they preferred MediaTek over Qualcomm Snapdragon 635.

The battery life is really impressive in this smartphone. And along with the UI and OS optimizations that Asus have made to this device, make it even more efficient in power usage. You can easily get 2-day battery backup from the device in a single charge. The power saving features in Zenfone 3s Max can even get you more hours out of it.

There will be 32 GB internal default storage provided in Zenfone 3s Max which could also be expanded up to 2 TB using a microSD card. There is a hybrid slot which could either be used as a dual sim slot or memory card slot. One can also use the smartphone to charge other devices as it supports reverse charging. Users can also use their fingerprints to answer the calls, launch camera, click pictures etc.

Camera

Zenfone 3s Max comes possessed with a 13 MP primary shooter with dual LED. The camera performs decent in bright daylight and is not detailed enough. The pictures blur out when seen on a huge screen. But for small profile pictures, they are not so bad. The shots in dull lights were a bit noisy as well.

On the other hand, the front camera is a 8 MP shooter which captures decent selfies in dull as well as bright conditions. However, there are some changes in the camera app like super resolution mode and manual mode.

Android

This is the first device from Asus that runs on Android Nougat 7.0. In addition to this, the company has also introduced their new Zen UI 3.0. There is no doubt in the fact that the previous ZenUI was full of bugs and errors. However, the latest UI offers a clean and lag free experience to its users.

There is a new search option in the App drawer along with a list of frequently used apps. The new theme store offers a lot of new themes to you along with ringtones, wallpapers and icon packs.

The new UI focuses on providing the best and the original stock Android experience along with some add-on facilities. Obviously, better hardware could have made it smoother, but still it is way better than what we see in old Asus devices.

Conclusion

Well, all in all, Asus Zenfone 3s Max is a decent new smartphone which offers limited performance but great battery life. The device is actually for users who do not demand much from their smartphones but want it to last longer in a single charge. The device is not yet officially out and the company still needs to announce its price. But, we will be back with more updates on the device as we are expecting it very soon.
