Apple to bring iPhone’s 3D Touch multitasking gesture on iOS 11 next update

By | September 22, 2017

Apple has recently made its much awaited iOS 11 update available to over 20 different iOS devices including the new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The new iOS 11 is amazing as it is packed with hundreds of innovative features to explore within your iOS device. Although there is only one feature missing and that is 3D Touch Multitasking. If you have been missing the same feature, here’s a good news for you. The 3D touch Multitasking feature will be available on the next update of the iOS 11.

It seem Apple has got plenty of recommendations from the users who are missing this feature on the new iOS 11 update. Well, Apple’s Software Engineer Craig Federighi has today announced that they will bring the 3D Touch Multitasking feature back on the iOS device with the next update. Yes, the next update of iOS 11 will bring even more features to the device.

He has apparently replied to MacRumours user who have asked the same question to the Apple’s forum. You can read out the actual thread of this forum from here.

Question from Zahn: Could we at least make the 3D Touch app switch gesture an option in iOS 11 so that I could retain the ability to switch apps that way instead of having to double tap the home button?

Response from Federighi: Hi Adam,

We regretfully had to temporarily drop support for this gesture due to a technical constraint. We will be bringing it back in an upcoming iOS 11.x update.

Thanks (and sorry for the inconvenience)!

Apple has claimed that this 3D Touch feature on the new iOS 11 was intentionally removed as for the testing purposes. Some of the devices running on an iOS 9 and iOS 10 devices are using the iOS 11 devices. This new feature can be launched at the left side of the display. Just drag to the right from the left on the screen and it will be right there. You can get quick access from the display of the apps right away.

People are missing this feature because it brings the app switcher right on the display to quickly access the popular and favourite apps which you place in the app switcher. Just press at the left side and drag it to the right and it will be right there on the display. However, the new iOS 11 doesn’t support this feature and for the same reason people are expecting this features to come in the next update.

As per the officials, they have faced some technical constraint on the iOS 11 regarding this 3D Touch Multitasking feature, however they have overcome with this issue which means we would definitely going to see this new 3D Touch Multitasking feature in an upcoming update of the iOS 11.

If you have already upgraded to iOS 11 update, the only way you can bring this 3D Multitasking on your phone is by double pressing the Home Button on the older iOS devices or by swiping up from the bottom and hold it to the middle. This will bring the app switcher to your display. This looks pretty annoying for the people who are not familiar with the new iOS 11.

Well, Apple will bring all the native features to the iOS 11 and for that, we have to wait for the next update of the iOS. We will update you with all the upcoming movements from Apple.
