Android 8.1 Oreo is coming, confirmed by Google


It’s been a couple of month since Google has announced its much awaited Android 8.0 Oreo Operating System officially. The giant has recently announced its much awaited Pixel 2 series smartphones with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. People have been testing out the new Android 8.0 with its beta version before the official launch. However, Google has made it official with Oreo name and the update is already available to plenty of Android phones. And now, the giant is preparing for the new Android 8.1 Oreo update which is officially confirmed by Google. 

Google has officially announced the future of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphone along with the update for the Android Oreo update. The new future updates will be coming to your Android phone, however you have to update your device with the upcoming Android 8.1 Oreo update. Features like Custom Dedicated SoC for image processing and other important features will only enabled to your device once you update with the Android 8.1 Oreo update.

According to the official announcements made by Google today, the official first developer preview of Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System will be available “in the coming weeks.”

Through their official blog post, Google has explained the future of Pixel Visual Core through the update of the Oreo Operating System i.e. Android 8.1 Oreo. In the blog post, there is a clear mention about the next Android update from the giant and that is Android 8.1 Oreo.

Sadly, there is no any further information regarding the official release date or any other details of the new Android 8.1 Oreo update, however this update would be called a maintenance update which will bring additional functionality to your Android device. At the beginning, the new Android 8.1 Oreo update will be available for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. There is no any information on whether this update will be available to any other devices or not.

Apart from this, if we talk about the Nougat’s maintenance update, there was a number of additional features brought by the update to the original Nougat users. Features such as app shortcuts, support for circular icons, image keyboard support, availability of GIFs and Stickers through Google Keyboard, apps functionality along with a few minor improvements to the native user interface of the Nougat Operating System. The update was released a couple of months after the Android 7.0 Nougat update with Android 7.1 Nougat update. The same thing will happen with the Android 8.0 Oreo update.

Well, the giant is currently preparing for the release of the very first developer preview of the Android 8.1 Oreo Maintenance preview update for the Pixel devices. The giant will soon come up with an official announcement regarding this update for the Pixel phones in the coming weeks.
