Amazon relaunches Junglee to take on Quikr and OLX in India

Junglee, a part of the Amazon India’s portfolio has relaunched its platform to allow users to buy and sell used goods. The pilot of the latest venture will start from Bangalore, followed by other Indian cities in the coming month. Initially, it will allow users to sell the goods in various categories such as Mobiles, Books, Watches and Tablets. The initiative will be led by Mahendra Nerurkar, General Manager, Junglee.

In the pilot phase, the platform will provide end to end service for the sellers including pick up, packaging and delivery on a chargeable basis. The listing can be made for free, the move is implemented keeping in mind the small sellers to increase the userbase initially.

Speaking on the development, one of the spokesperson from Junglee added that the platform will also focus on selling the new goods from the small sellers who do not have bandwidth and resources to put up their products on larger portals. This will come in handy specially for the sellers who want to target just a single city for their sales. With the launch, the platform claims to be the solo platform in the country offering new and used products from various small scale sellers including home-entrepreneurs, individuals and micro-businesses.

Back in 2014, Junglee has partnered with Quikr to allow the users to sell their used products on Junglee, however, 2 years later, the portal now competes on ground with OLX and Quikr. Quikar Doorstep is a similar service to what Junglee plans to do in the coming time.
