Zendesk, a customer support tech company, has announced its acquisition of We Are Cloud, the parent company of BIME Analytics for a deal worth $45 million.
Started in 2009 in Montpellier, France, the startup BIME Analytics cloud-based software aims to conquer the complexity created by the proliferation of data sources. The software is being used by wide range of customers in 35 countries. The company’s clientele list includes Cars.com, H&R Block, Lenovo, McAfee, Pizza Hut, Shell and Sodexo.
With the acquisition of BIME Analytics, Zendesk is working to expand its leadership in helping organizations apply a data-driven approach to customer service and engagement and understand the ever-increasing diversity of data about their customers. BIME Analytics would take the place of core technology powering Zendesk’s customer data platform, allowing Zendesk to integrate data analytics capabilities across its products, further.
Mikkel Svane, Zendesk founder, CEO and chairman said, “Our customers are dealing with an exponential growth in customer interactions and require a new, fresh generation of data analytics and visualization tools. Data is the new currency in business and customer relationships. With BIME Analytics, we’ll be able to build even deeper data and analytics capabilities across our portfolio of products.”
The market for cloud BI space has been gaining lot of attention lately. Amazon Web Services launched its QuickSight tool last week. Salesforce came out with the Analytics Cloud tool last year. Zendesk competes more with Salesforce than Amazon Web Services in the service desk software market. Now with this acquisition, Zendesk will have BI capability just like Salesforce. Enterprises these days expect the flexibility to analyze and understand customer data better from a wide-set of applications like mobile apps, cloud-based software, websites etc, without moving the data from here and there. BIME Analytics allows to do this and build queries across different live data sources for the companies.
Racheal Delacour, CEO and co-founder of We Are Cloud said, “We are proud of our progress with BIME Analytis to bring simplicity and rationality to the complex world of business data. Now as part of Zendesk, we’ll have its global customer reach, operational scale and expertise in customer data to bring modern analytics to even more businesses and customer service leaders.”
Further to the acquisition, BIME Analaytics will continue to be function as a separate entity and will sell separate data analytics product. All of We Are Cloud’s employees would join Zendesk in different roles.
