Verizon becomes first company to offer roaming service in Cuba

On Thursday, Verizon Wireless announced that it is going to start offering wireless service in Cuba next week, which makes its first U.S. Company to offer roaming in Cuba. The company said that it will offer roaming plans that includes text, call and data access to the people in Cuba.

This plan of Verizon will cost you $3 per minute for voice call along with standard rate for messaging and the price of data access will be $2.05 per megabyte. If you are planning to visit the Caribbean, you must buy a pay-as-you-go cell phone to get this service on the island.

This plan of the Verizon is good for people going to the Caribbean nation, however, you’ll have to spend lots of money for calls, texts and data access on the island. If you consume 1 gigabyte of data on the island, you’ll have to pay more than two grand.

Verizon certainly becomes the first wireless carrier to offer roaming service in the Cuba, but may not be a cost effective one. Using pay pal may work more cost effective than using the pricier roaming plans of Verizon, if visiting Cuba.
