Widgets are one of the attractive features of iOS 8. Android users have used the widgets longer as a talking point when advertising about their preferred Operating System for mobiles. Previously iOS do not have this feature but now iOS 8 has the widgets feature.  Widgets are convenient, if not, powerful feature of an app.

Apple, instead of implementing the widgets on home screen, they choose to place it on the notifications center under the “Today” tab. This makes widgets out of the way and frees your home screen, yet makes them easily accessible with quick gestures. You need to install an update or an app with Today integration and you need to activate the widget.  Here is the tips to how to use widgets on iOS 8.

  • Scroll down from the top of the screen to show the notification center and select Today tab.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the panel and tap on Edit.

Now here you will find both currently acctivve widgets and inactive widgets available from apps that you have installed on your device.  Tap on the green circle and it will enable the widget. Widgets which can be moved will have the three line icon to the right of its name and it allows you to drag and drop it into position.

Widgets of the apps will display the information at the quick glance and tapping on any entry will take you into the app to the respective story. Notification center and by association widgets are accessible from lock screen, which increase the value of widgets which you decide to take the advantage of.
