United Airlines app for Android allows passport scanning

United Airlines app for Android which is optimized for smartphone and tablets now offers the features from flight booking to know the flight status and more. This app is your essential travel companion. This app provides the valuable travel information right in your hand with the home screen travel cards and ready to access at the moment’s notice.



United Airless has became the first U.S airline which offer the customers the ability to scan their passports to check in for the international flights through their Android smartphones or tablets. United Airlines is now offering its customers the option to use the passport scanning option on the Android app as the carrier completes testing.

Now the passengers can access the passport scanning feature before 24 hours of the departure. After going into the check-in feature in the app, customers will have the option of verifying the stored passport data or scanning their passport. This app make use of the device’s camera to scan the passengers passports. The passport credentials are then verified by the Jumio Inc, the credentials management company and once the verification process is complete passengers will get a boarding pass.

Scott Wilson, United Airlines Vice President has said that,

[quote]We are focused on building the most useful travel app in the airline industry for our customers. The new passport scanning feature now saves the valuable time and offers the customers more options to control their travel experience.[/quote]

United Airlines will collect the feedback during the testing phase of the passport scanning functionality with the aim of further improving the product and launching more customer friendly features by using this technology.
