Umang Bedi to be Facebook India’s Managing Director

Umang Bedi, Former head of Adobe in South Asia region has been appointed as the managing director by Facebook India. In a role starting officially from July 2016, Umang will be responsible for firming strategic relationships with the top worth clients and the agencies in the country.



Umang will take over from the former Facebook India head, Kirthiga Reddy. Kirthiga will fly back for a bigger responsibility at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park. She will be joining Global accounts team to take care of Facebook’s relationship with some of the top advertisers from across the globe.

Umang is an alumni of Harvard Business School which he joined after graduating in engineering from University of Pune. He has been the receipint of India’s hottest business leader in 2014 as well as he was included in Forbes 40 under 40. He brings in an experience of over 2 decades in segments like Sales, Marketing.



Speaking on the development, Umang took it to Facebook and stated his happiness by saying that he was excited to become a part of the journey which India has to cover for becoming a fully digital nation.

Dan Neary, VP Asia Pacific said that India has shown a great potential for future and a person like Umang will be really handy in taking the progress further. Kirthiga has been instrumental in making Facebook a big thing in India in the last 6 years and I hope she will continue to make a difference with the team at the headquarters.



India has an active mobile population of over 150 million and that is where Facebook has its eye. Facebook is working with 85% of the top Indian advertisers and the future seems bright and we hope, inclusion of a person like Umang will make a positive impact.

How India’s GDP can grow when Northeast cities like Agartala continues to remain economically backward ? Left ruled Agartala has become 3rd Internet gateway and with a lameduck leadership unwilling and having poor understanding of Industry and technology, Tripura and its Youth’s future have been continuously ruined leaving a record 25.2% (highest in India) unemployment.

    It has been a long wait for Tripura and its youths who have been suffering everyday from chronic unemployment and concerned folks are just happy to mint Govt salary month after month with an excuse of unemployment is throughout country or no infrastructure. At whose cost please ?

    With a record (highest in India) 25.2% of unemployment Left ruled Tripura continues to bite dust of under-development and non-performance due to state’s outdated policies of being anti development and industry without realizing world and India’s economy driven by Business and technology.

    So far it has been about Govt job, salary, subsidy – on tax payers money and mediocre plastic industry for name sake being the focus – which still fails to show hope to lakhs of educated unemployed youths!

    Urgent need is to bring high end industry and jobs at Agartala having follow up with Industry leaders and setting up required infrastructure on a war footing.

    With high speed internet and 24/7 power, Can capital Agartala look forward in 2016 to being an IT hub with high end IT jobs for 7 lakh educated unemployed youths of Trpiura ?.
