In a completely new way to grab and hold the customers, Uber has announced its partnership with Capital One, US based credit card company, to reward the users when they complete specific number of rides. For example, if a user completes 9 rides on Uber and pays using his Capital One Credit card, he becomes eligible to grab a free 10th ride worth $15.
A statement from Uber stated that the service will be live for the United Users in the first phase and it will include more credit card companies in the coming months.
The cab riding startup has been trying out different combinations of providing payment rewards to the users, however, this is the first time that Uber has included a third party into this. Before the latest announcement, it had launched Uber Offers, where users could get discounts of $5 to $20 by shopping from the partner merchants. Also, it had launched a point system which gave the users an option to get a free ride after every 15 rides. Though, the latest offer holds better rewards then the previous one, but it will be interesting to see, how many users make use of it, because right now, it accepts only one credit card.
