Trip38 gets seed capital from investors InterGlobe Technology Quotient Pvt Ltd and Lantern Capital.
Bengaluru based Trip38 Technologies Pvt Ltd owns Trip38 app. Trip38 offers information over 350,000 hotels and 180,000 sightseeing places across the world. The app out of beta completely revamped its user interface. The aesthetic has been changed made to material design with extra features about local discovery provides recommendations for food and entertainment at their destination to the users. Baggage allowance and airport facilities features have been added to the app.
Trip38 app works offline too, once the trip is added in, users do not need to an internet connection to work. The app is location sensitive offers check in alerts too apart from context sensitive content on flight such e-tickets, flight status, airport information, deals, embassy information and hotel offers etc.,
The company was founded in 2014 by Niranjan Gupta, Seshadri Krishnan and Markish R. Niranjan Gupta is an experienced professional in travel industry. He has rich experience of around 20 years in the field. He graduated in Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from UVCE, Bangalore University. Niranjan did his Master of Business Administration in Finance from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.
Niranjan became Managing Director of travel bazaar in 1994. Travel Bazaar has multiple outlets across Bengaluru. In 2006, he co founded Via.com and became Chief Executive Officer of the company. Via.com got venture capital within six months of operations. In 2009 he became Managing Director of magicrooms.in, a leading online portal for hotel distribution platform. Prior founding Trip38, he became Chief Operating Officer of Intech Hotel Solutions Pvt Ltd in 2011. Yatra.com is channel partner of Intech Hotel Solutions.
Markish R is Co Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Trip38. He is a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from Anna University. He started his career as Specialist, Netweaver Mobile in SAP Labs, worked till 2008. Markish R co founded and headed as technical architect of Dixsoft Business Solutions from January 2000 to December 2008. Along with his uncle he has handled 225 SMB clients across 11 industries.
He co founded magicrooms.in and headed as Vice President, Technology in 2010 until the acquisition by Yatra.com in 2011. Prior his co founding Trip38, he moved to Yatra.com as Vice President, Technology and Research.
Another noteworthy co founder of Trip38 is Seshadri Krishnan. He has excellent track record of business strategy, business leadership, Technology consulting, Global IT service delivery and Governance. He is an ex alumni of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He graduated as Bachelor of Science in Information Studies and Sciences. Later he went for his Masters in Business Administration in marketing and finance from U21 Singapore.
He is the charter member of TiE, Bangalore. He started his career as Manager – Systems in Titan Industries Ltd in 1995. In 2000 he became Project Manager in Planetasia.com. Seshadri became Program Manager in Wipro Technologies in 2001. He was responsible for deliverables for Asia Pacific, Australia, Mid East and India. He set up and structured practice offerings that included sales support, capability definition, consulting with input from sales team.
In 2003, he moved to Sapient Corporation as Director. He headed travel and retail delivery organisation for UK and Continental Europe in terms of business growth, client relationship and delivery. He worked with global clients such as CISCO, Sony, GM, Expedia, Hilton etc.
He co founded Vinca Leisure Ventures Pvt Ltd in 2009 which he headed as Chief Executive Officer. He was in charge for ideation, strategy and business model innovation, funding, sales and marketing for the startup.
He had short stint in Groupon as Chief Product and Technology officer in 2011 was responsible for product strategy and platform roadmap along with roll out and up scaling technology operations.
Prior co founding Trip38 he was Vice President for consumer retailer and information technology.
Trip38 received seed funding from InterGlobe Technology Quotient Pvt Ltd and Lantern Capital for $1 million. Anil Parashar, President and Chief Executive Officer of InterGlobe joined the Trip38 board. InterGlobe is the parent company of Indigo Airlines. He brings in extensive experiences in the hospitality and aviation industry. The funding is one of the first for InterGlobe which has invested through their investment arm.
For Singapore based Venture Capital firm Lantern Capital, this would be there first investment in the startup world.
Trip38 offers information on 350,000 hotels and 180,000 sightseeing places across the world. The company generates revenue from platform usage fee or transaction fee from hotels and other related tourism entities. The company says that 40% of the app usage from India. Trip38 is aiming for 3 million downloads in next 18 months.
Trip38 poised for higher growth with high number of downloads and traffic from their app in the coming months.
