The News Minute Raises unspecified sum in Angel round of funding

Bangalore based News portal, The News Minute has raised an unspecified sum in angel round of funding from Quintillion Media. The News Minute is a platform owned by Spunklane Media Pvt. Ltd., which concentrates on the news content of southern India. With this deal, the co-founder of Quintillion Media, Ritu Kapur and founder of Network 18, Raghav Bahl is going to join the board of the company.

The News Minute was founded by Chitra Subramaniam, Dhanya Rajendran and Vignesh Vellore in 2014. It is a news platform that brings best original contents and the main focus of the platform is the five state of Southern India. The platform offers news content in different categories like culture, Media, Blog, breaking news and opinion.

The co-founder of The News Minute, Vignesh Vellore said about the development, “Our main focus is growing the audience. We have to develop a larger captive audience, increase our engagement with them on social platforms. We also aim to produce content which are qualitatively better and get better leverage out of our existing talents.”

The startup will use the fund for expanding its reach and marketing as well as hiring more people. The company is also going to use the fund for improving its technology. The startup is facing competition from some other funded players like InShorts, POPXo, ScoopWhoop etc. Recently, Inshorts had raised $20 Million from its existing investor Tiger Global.
