FoodTech Startup, Swiggy introduces Phone Masking feature

India based food service eCommerce website, Swiggy has launched “number masking” feature to make phone number of end consumers undisclosed on its platform. The startup has introduced this feature to protect its customer’s phone number from delivery staffs.

The company uses cloud telephony services that enable customer number obfuscation, which make sure the safety and confidentiality of customer’s number. Currently, the startup offers food ordering and delivery services in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Chennai. The platform allows its customers to pay for their order via Cash-on-Delivery or online payment option.

Here, calls from customers are routed to a third party server, which starts a conference call between customers and delivery staff. Here, its customers can track their order through its websites and mobile app, which also allows customers to avoid calling the delivery executives. Number Masking feature was first introduced by cab aggregators.

Swiggy is an online food service provider, which was founded by Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy and Rahul Jaimini in August 2014. The platform allows customers to order foods from best hotels in their neighborhood and deliver them to their doorsteps. Swiggy do intensive background verification of delivery staffs, before hiring them. The startup verifies some very important informations like address, Id and criminal and court cases.

The Bangalore based FoodTech startup had raised $18.5 Million form Norwest Venture Partners, Accel Partners and SAIF partners in two round of funding.
