Aurus Network was founded in 2010, founded by Piyush Agarwal and Sujeet Kumar Agarwal, ex IIT Kanpur.

The platform revolutionized the online domain for competitive examination coaching provided to students appearing for CA (Chartered Accountancy), CS (Company Secretary), CIMA (Certified Management Accountants) and few others. platform connects students with professors by providing their live or recorded lectures thru online video streaming, driven by state of the art technology, which can beam high definition quality videos at low bandwidth.

Student Face Website did a screening process of the professors, who will be on their panel. Each professor who has selected had coached 10,000 students in their career. Around 100 professors are listed in their website who offers online preparatory coaching for competitive examinations across India.

The platform has 25,000 students registered for various preparatory online courses for competitive examinations. It has tied up with professors in New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai for various competitive exams.

Although students from tier 1 cities have access to these professors, take the bigger pie in terms of completion of courses. Students from tier 2 and tier 3 cities face challenges to face competitive exams due to lack of quality coaching are registering with SuperProfs for coaching.


The Gate Academy offers Gate Online Coaching, Siddarth Academy of Mumbai offers Company Secretary coaching and Chennai’s Prof. Tharun Raj who is expert and famous professor on Indirect Taxation have tied up with along with few others.

Aurus had received first round of funding of $1 million from Angel networks and former Yahoo R & D chief Sharad Sharma and others. On December 29, 2014, Aurus Network received Rs 18 Crores ($ 3 million) Series ‘A’ funding from IDG Ventures and Kalaari Capital which will be channeled towards SuperProfs.

Aurus is planning to invest more in R & D, mobile technology and planning to expand product offerings which include coaching on IAS (Indian Administrative Services) and IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) courses.


As per Karan Mohla, Vice President of IDG Ventures ‘Education is a long tail market and extremely fragmented. As a fund they are looking in education for 6 to 7 years just because of possibilities, with the roadmap ahead being mobile’. ‘Aurus is growing 30% on MOM and have ambitious plan to cater 10 lakh students in next two years. They are engaging school and colleges to attract students. Aurus earns 50% revenue thru subscription fee from students.’ He added Aurus has brought the technology of streaming HD class room videos streamed at low bandwidth level’.

Kalaari and IDG have invested together in 3 other startups like, Apalya Technologies and Zivame, lingerie e-tailer.

This marks a gradual shift from offline coaching to online coaching which attracts interest in several technology focused educations startups like and If tapped properly $8 Billion test preparation market will open lot of new startup ventures.
