Character Merchandise Startup, Superhero Brands raises $458,000

Indian Character merchandise startup, Superhero Brands has raised $458,000 from DSG Consumer Partners and UK based Character Group along with some other investors. The Mumbai based startup will use this Pre-series A round of funding to expand its products collections and improve its distribution networks. The company will also expand its reach through online and offline Channel.

Superhero Brands was founded by Jaineel Aga, Sumit Shah and Karan Shah in 2013. It is an official merchandise marketplace for several comics and TV show characters from Warner Bros, Universal, Marvel and Cartoon Network. The startup has wide collection of products from different categories including apparel, electronics, Mobile accessories and laptop skins.

Deepak Shahdadpuri, the Managing Director at DSG consumer products said, “We have been impressed with the team’s focus, financial maturity and vision in building a sustainable and long lasting business in this fast growing character merchandising space. The company has demonstrated an ability to work with leading brand owners and over time will develop and sell merchandise across categories.”

The company, who has partnered with some famous retail chains like Lifestyle, Central and Shoppers Stop is planning to have more than 350 touch points till next year. As of now, the company sells a particular section of its products from its own online store
