SquadRun is mobile marketplace that helps businesses crowdsource micro tasks that require human intelligence. The app helps businesses to outsource small tasks to a mobile army (players) to collect and collate useful information, moderate and categorize content, collect opinions across demographics. For the user, SquadRun is an app that allows anyone with a smartphone to make money on a per task basis. Quick mission if correctly executed will get exciting rewards and prizes.
SquadRun’s focus lies on the information for content moderation, data tagging, categorization, and comparison etc. The company works on principle that everyone has a certain amount of spare time every day like waiting for bus or travelling in bus or company cab.
The company was co founded by Apurv Agrawal, Kanika Jain and Vikas Gulati in 2014. SquadRun is headquartered in California and New Delhi. The company was incubated by 91 Springboard.
Apurv Agrawal is founder of SquadRun is experienced professional. He graduated in Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from Vellore Institute of Technology. He was mentor and judge for Launchpad, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. During his college days, he developed platform called eWaiter for the students of VIT. However the project never took off due to non cooperation from the management. In 2009, he founded MORVO Corp where he handled web development and business development.
In 2010 he joined NEC HCL ST as Engineering Intern. He designed intranet portal for the company to manage its data, applications and information in easier manner.
In 2010 he founded and became Chief Executive Officer of ngoFuel.org. The organisation is one of the first technical in the social sector of India. He featured in the top 30 student startups of India. He published several articles in print media and online. He is active involved with The Kairos Society as President in India.
Kanika Jain is another founder of SquadRun. She did her graduation from Jesus and Mary College in Bachelor of Commerce (Hons). Kanika did small internee stint with companies The Boston Consulting Group and AZB Partners. In 2013, she became Hub Manager for 91springboard and she worked till 2014.
Vikas Gulati is another founder of SquadRun. He has done his bachelor of engineering in Information technology from Vellore Institute of Technology in 2012. He joined as intern in Josh Technology group elevated to senior software developer in short stint of 2 years. He joined Apurv Agrawal and Kanika Jain to start SquadRun.
The company received an undisclosed amount of funding recently from a group of investors. It includes Powai Lake Ventures, Zishaan Hayath founder of Toppr, Deepinder Goyal of Zomato, Girish Khera co founder of Scientific Animations and Amit Ranjan of Slideshare.
SquadRun’s business model seems to be well suited for a large, increasingly mobile population in India. The funding is a proof of well oiled business model, where the investors are from different fields and are very successful entrepreneurs.
The company is claiming to execute 700+ mission each day with an active base of 7000+ players. SquadRun is focusing on Indian market and plans to expand globally. The company claims to have worked with 7000 users and 35 businesses which includes Snapdeal, Groupon and TouchTalent.
SquadRun will use the funds for marketing, product development and expansion of the startups presence in the US and European Market as well.
