There are a slew of Android Wear based smartwatches available in the market and the Moto 360 and LG G Watch have already received updated to enhance their functionality. Though the GPS support for such wearables has been achieved via updates, the first one to come with built-in GPS is Sony Smartwatch 3.
Now, it the time for those Sony fans in US to grab the smartwatch as it is available from the Google Play Store for a pricing of $249.99. The wearable device was announced in September at the IFA 2014 tech show and was let out on pre-order in the US in October.
The Sony Smartwatch 3 based on Android Wear comes equipped with a 1.6 inch display with 320×320 pixel resolution and is powered by a quad-core ARMv7 processor ticking at 1.2 GHz. The device comes with the IP68 certification for water and dust resistance and 4 GB of internal storage capacity.
The other aspects of the smartwatch include NFC, in-built GPS, Wi-Fi Radio, 512 MB of RAM and a 420 mAh battery. It is given various sensors such as accelerometer, compass, gyro and GPS that can be used for collecting fitness data, but there is no heart rate monitor.
