Sony has started pushing out a firmware update for its WALKMAN app in Xperia flagship smartphone. The new app update takes the firmware number form 8.4.A.1.4 to 8.4.A.3.1, that you can check after updating your app to the latest one. The update offers several new UI tweaks and now let you to get a complete new experience of your music. After getting the updated app on your Xperia smartphone, you will be able to play your music via folders. This new feature can be found in “My Library”. Before the update, you could only sort the music according to Albums, Songs and Artists. Sony now also added a feature to go to Artist and Album from any music item you are playing.

The other features mentioned in the changelog is “Walkman widget to work on default Android home screen,” However I don’t what this means. The widgets are the same as we have seen in the earlier update and worked on the home screen anyway. The update is targeting a number of Sony Xperia devices right now apart from the Xperia Z2 Tablet and Z2 (at the time of releasing the update). The APK can be downloaded below.

This update might be good for music lovers specially because earlier switching between the music genre or album was not possible but all these basic features now added to this update.

However, the app is still now available to Play Store, here is the download link to get the apk right on your phone to install the OTA update. One more thing, people who owned Xperia smartphones or tablets can only install the apk, as of now this is not available to other Android devices.
