Today, Microsoft has announced that the company is planning to integrate Skype into its Office Online and Outlook.com, which will allow users to communicate through video and voice chat with their friends while working on Office. Here, you can communicate with your friends via voice and video chat while working on Excel, OneNote Online Documents, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.com.
Due this integration of Skype to Office Online, you can see and chat with your Skype contacts from within their files. Skype will also keep chat history, which allows you to know where you left the communication while closing the file. Microsoft will bring the Skype integration to Office Online and Outlook.com in November.
In addition to the Skype integration, Microsoft is also launching a new browser extension for Google Chrome that gives you a quick access to Office and Sway Contents. This will also allow Chrome users to access or create new files by clicking on a tiny Office icon from Chrome’s toolbar. This extension will let you access files that are stored on web cloud or your computer. The official description of this extension reads, “Use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Sway Online without needing Office installed,”
