SchoolKart, Indian online marketplace raises $300K

SchoolKart, an Indian online marketplace for school products has raised $300K from a bunch of Angel Investors, including a few HNIs.

Founded in 2015 by Nikhil Sareen, an ISB Alumni and former employee at Amazon, SchoolKart is a one stop marketplace for all the school related needs including dress material, course & reference books, sporting material etc.

The online portal has tied up with over 500 schools across India to sell their uniform along with providing things like NCERT textbooks, Reference Books, Dictionaries, Children’s books, Shoes and other day today things needed by the students. The startup claims to receive over 100,000 visits per month.

The raised money will be used in expanding the product base along with expanding to more cities across the country. It has a 15 member team right now and with the latest funding, the team size is also set to go up in the time to come.

Along with the online platform, the startup runs a CSR program named as SchoolKart cares. With the initiative, the startup asks the students to donate their books and other school related stuffs once they are done with it. The collected items are then distributed among the underprivileged kids with the help of the partner NGOs of SchoolKart.
