Announced at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in February, the Samsung Gear 2 that is based on Tizen OS has received an update that brings about enhancements to the S Health app and adds a new feature related to notifications.
This update takes the version from 184.108.40.206 to 220.127.116.11 and it can be done through the Gear Manager in the smartwatch. Besides the mentioned enhancements, the update is also responsible to bring about general stability to the Gear 2.
According to SamMobile, the new notification related feature is termed Blocking Mode and as the name suggests this feature when activated will mute all the notifications. When it comes to the S Health app, the change-log includes an accurate pedometer with automatic step counting, higher goals, easier pedometer data transfer, enhanced heart rate monitor accuracy, updated Sleep Mode and the ability to set custom messages.
Samsung is also circulating in rumors to prep a smartwarch that comes with a universal SIM card slot that will help in making voice calls and send messages without tethering to a smartphone. The vendor is also in talks with carriers from US, Korea and Europe for the standalone smartwatch. Also, a Samsung spokesperson has confirmed that the first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear will be reloaded with the Tizen OS. However, the update schedule of the same is still not revealed by the company.
