Sony has released its new Sony Xperia Z3 tablet at the IFA conference, Berlin 2014. It is an 8-inch tablet which is set to give tough competition to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 inch and some other tablets like iPad Mini 2 retina and Google Nexus 9 which fall in the same range. On other hand Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S is the one of the best Samsung table available till date and expensive too and it is worthy comparing with Sony Xperia Z3.

Design and Display

First coming to the design Samsung Galaxy’s Tab S is almost identical to other Samsung tablets.  It looks like blown up Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone with the textured plastic on the back side, aluminium bezels on the side, centered rear camera and white or black front and hardware home button. Tab S is incredibly thin with just 6.6 mm thick. It has 8.4 inch display with 1600 x 2560 pixels resolution and super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It weighs around 298 grams.



Now coming to Sony Xperia Z3 compact tablet it is also looks similar to other Sony Xperia smartphones. It has 8.0 inch display with 1200 x 1920 pixels resolution and the TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen. Galaxy Tab S has the bigger and sharper display compared to Sony Xperia Z# tablet, whereas Xperia Z3 is slimmer and lighter of the both. Sony Xperia Z3 weighs around 270 grams.



Performance and Storage

Both these tablets offers almost equal performance. Galaxy Tab S is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor, whereas Xperia Z3 is powered by Snapdragon 801 processor and both devices packs 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Krait 400 CPU.

Both of these tablets have almost similar storage capacity and RAM specifications. Both these devices packs 3 GB RAM along with 16 GB internal storage and an option to expandable it to 128 GB using micro SD card. Galaxy Tab S comes in two versions 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage options.

Camera and OS

Both Galaxy Tab S and Xperia Z3 tablet feature 8 MP back camera and 2.1 MP front camera with 1080 p video recording. Both run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat Operating System.

Battery and Price

Samsung Galaxy Tab S packs the Non-removable Li-Ion 4900 mAh battery which can offer up to 29 hours of 3G talktime. Sony Xperia Z3 packs the Non-removable Li-Ion 4500 mAh battery and it offers 23 hours of 3G talktime.



Coming to the price of the devices, Galaxy Tab S costs around $400, whereas Tab S 10.5 inch costs $100 more than 8.4 inch tablet. Sony Xperia Z3 tablet cost around $450 which is costlier than Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
