Rumors are rife regarding the Galaxy S5 Prime, the premium variant of Samsung’s flagship phone – Galaxy S5. While we have already heard that the handset will come with a QHD display with 2560×1440 pixel resolution and a metallic build.
Latest information from Korea makes the offering interesting as it suggests that the Galaxy S5 Prime will feature high download speeds up to 225 Mbps. In simple words, the handset will support download speed that is three folds the LTE download speed of 75 Mpbs. However, this 225 Mbps download speed will be available only in the homeland – Korea and only SK Telecom will provide it.
The carrier has LTE-Advanced network that provides maximum data speeds of up to 150 Mbps and it utilizes the 10 MHz x 10 MHz spectrum. To attain such faster speed, the carrier should have a bandwidth of 20 MHz.
At this point of time, only the Qualcomm MDM9635 supports 225 Mbps speed and speculations are that Samsung has ordered 1 million units of this chip from Qualcomm.
Detailing on the specifications, the Galaxy S5 Prime is said to come equipped with a 5.2 inch display packing a Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels The device is expected to include a quad-core Snapdragon 805 Soc paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage space. The imaging requirements are claimed to be addressed by 16 MP and 2 MP camera units at the rear and front respectively.
Though these details are know to us, they are yet to be confirmed officially and we do not have any information regarding the pricing and availability of this premium variant of the Galaxy S5.
