Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs HTC One M8 : Specs Comparison

I think Samsung has now started making metal body equipped devices, first they launched the Galaxy Alpha and this time with Galaxy Note 4 they opt for metal one that directly competes with the HTC’s the best smartphone ever, One M8 launched already, and sure to be their biggest-selling metal phone. We are here at IFA 2014 so we can make just that comparison. It’s time for metal on metal, HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs HTC One M8 : Quick Comparison

The HTC One M8, thanks to its large dual front-facing speakers is nearly as tall as the Note 4, even though its screen is just a 5 inches to the Note 4’s 5.7-inches. Even if the two have metal in common, the designs couldn’t be more different. Where the One M8 has a wrap-around metal body with smooth curves and a finish that comes in glossy brushed or sandblasted, the Note 4’s metal is reserved exclusively for the band that wraps around the edge.

Display wise Galaxy Note 4 is the winner as it features a Super AMOLED capacitive QHD touchscreen with a resolution 1440 x 2560 pixels, 5.7 inches (~515 ppi pixel density) while the One M8 just offering 5 inches Super LCD3 capacitive display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels(~441 ppi pixel density). This time Samsung has really worked hard to bring so bright and vivid display allows you to work efficiently with sunlight. Video experience is also far better than the One M8. Along with the included S Pen feature the touch sensitivity is also remarkable. Samsung claims that the device is able to sense the S Pen without touching the screen (Air touch) but these features are absent in One M8.

Its difficult to comment about both the devices because One M8 and Note 4 both are good at their place. As a normal person I will prefer HTC One M8 rather than Note 4 as the Note 4 has very big display which is not possible to operate on the go compared to One M8. But as a tech savvy I’d never miss the change to hold the Note 4 in my hand to use the features like heart rate sensor, S Pen, Multi Window feature and more.

There is nothing in the camera of Note 4 to cheer about except, it allows you to measure the heart rate, featuring 16 MP, 3456 x 4608 pixels, optical image stabilization, autofocus, LED flash as a primary camera and 3.7 MP front facing camera. One thing which is remarkable about the camera is allows you to record 4K video at a 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, optical stabilization which is really amazing. While the HTC has opted a different route in this section using Dual 4 UMP, 2688х1520 pixels, autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash. HTC doesn’t allow to capture 4K resolution video which is limited upto 1080p@30fps.

This is also a section where Samsung has done something worth for their users, packs a 3,220 mAh battery with the Note 4. Samsung also claims that with normal usage you can use Note 4 for two days without charging with boost mode and also included a boot charging technology that claims 0-50% in just 30 minutes. In this case HTC is also not far behind but somehow failed to compete with the Note 4 offering only 2660 mAh battery. For now this I guess is enough to compare these devices, for more checkout the complete specs below. Also don’t forget to share which device is better according to you based on the hardware specs or comparison.
