Samsung Pay won’t work on your phone, if you have rooted your smartphones. This means that you won’t be able to pay with Samsung Pay for the product you buy. The people, who have participated in Samsung South Korean Trail program, have learned that the Samsung Pay service cannot be used for rooted devices. When you use this service from your rooted phone, you will get an error msg, which reads ” Access Denied . Samsung Pay has been locked due to an unauthorized modification. Call customer services.”

According to a report published in Phandroid, This restriction is one of the major issues, as other wallet services like Google Wallet allows rooted phone also. Google and other online payment services use NFC technology to secure elements and store information in a secured encrypted way. But Samsung Pay uses Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) to move information to the terminals, which doesn’t support NFC. This technology doesn’t store any information to your phone; instead it transfers an encrypted tokens rather than actual credit card data.

It is confirmed that Samsung Pay won’t work on rooted phones.
