Foodora, known as Foodpanda’s sibling to cater to the high-end corporate needs, has silently entered Hong Kong as a part of global expansion, the Startup, launched back in October 2014 is already available in 14 countries as of today.
Foodpanda, the sibling Startup entered Hong Kong around the mid of last year and has been doing pretty good. Both the Startups target the same tagline of, Too lazy, tired or simply don’t have the energy to muster going outside? Order food online, pay ahead of time or on delivery from the restaurants with or without courier facility.
While talking about the difference between the two, Chris Parrott, Managing Director of Marketing at foodora said,
“Foodpanda is a sister company, so there is scope for knowledge-sharing. We have different target clientele, as our minimum basket size is US$25.8 (HK$200) and foodpanda’s is variable,”
Foodora has seen some rapid growth in terms of numbers since the launch happened in July last year. Just this year, the company tied up with Delivery Hero to strengthen its delivery network. Delivery Hero is right now not available in Hong Kong, however, it operates in 34 other countries including China and Korea.
Along with this move, the headquarters of Foodora has shifted from London to Hong Kong after not so great performance of the Startup in British market because of high amount of competition. Right now, the Startup seems to be targeting the food bloggers and popular Instagram accounts for promotions.
