How to Restrict Users from Customizing Start Screen in Windows 8.1?

Today in this Article, I give you a tutorial which is a help for the Windows 8.1 Operating system users. This method is related to the registry  of the operating system which is applicable in both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 OS’s. This registry method will help you to prevent and restrict users from customizing start screen in Windows 8.1 operating system. With the help of this method users will not be able to customize the Start Menu or Start Screen. They will not be able to drag-and-drop items as well as access the context menu options for any item in the Start Menu or Start Screen.

They will be able to launch apps from the Start Screen but they will not be able to change Start Screen layout. For this you have to follow some important and essential steps

Steps Restrict Users from Customizing Start Screen in Windows 8.1 Operating system :

1.First of all you have to type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter. It’ll open the Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

3. On right-side pane, create a new DWORD NoChangeStartMenu and set its value to 1. That is enough  with the help of thus you can Log off, restart your system or end task of Explorer to apply effects. Once the changes are applied,  the users will not be able to change or customize Start Menu or Start Screen layout in Windows.


4. In future if you want to remove this restriction, simply change the value of NoChangeStartMenu to 0 or delete the DWORD.
