RedPolka raises funding from five angel investors. RedPolka owned by Mumbai based DOS Interactive P Ltd. The company was founded in December 2014 by Vishakha Singh. RedPolka is an e-magazine for shopping, curates fashion and lifestyle designs. The platform brings sellers closer to shoppers through content engagement.
RedPolka platform has partnered with 32 paying brands through affiliate channel concentrated on women’s fashion and lifestyle. The company employed a team of in house curators, content writers, relationship managers and other technical staff. Apart they have recruited people different domain knowledge like artificial intelligence. RedPolka has recently appointed Chief Technology Officer on their roles.
RedPolka founded by Vishakha Singh is very well known media personality. In 1998, she was senior manager in Times Entertainment, BCCL. Vishakha was instrumental in launch of Planet M stores in India. She worked till February 2002 in the company and moved as Manager – Brand and Alliances for CNBC TV18. She handled many programs such as Auto Awards, Mutual Fund Awards and other programs. Vishakha contributed for brand positioning of CNBC as prime business channel in India. She had brief stint of 13 months in the company.
In April 2003 Vishakha Singh became General Manager – Marketing for Spenta Multimedia. In her stint she forged several strategic alliances for the company such as Shoppers Stop and other corporate. She did brand building exercises for the leading magazines such Smart Manager, Wisden Cricket.
In 2004, Vishakha Singh became Group Manager – Marketing and Alliances for Times NOW. She was instrumental in the launch of Zoom Channel. Apart from she launched mobile platform for the channel. She drove and strengthened several strategic alliances for the TimesNOW channel. Vishakha worked with TimesNOW for 3 years and moved as Director – MaRCom and Strategy for Future Media India Ltd. She launched Future TV, the first live network of in-store television and developed content for the channel. She worked with the company for 2 years.
In January 2009, Vishakha Singh became the Executive Director of Aurora Comms. The company offers branding solutions across a wide range of consumer touch points like retail stores, multiplexes, single screen cinemas, financial retailing, electronic retails, book stores, entertainment parks, health clubs and gyms, coffee shops and other various forms of shopping. She worked with the company for 6.5 years and founded DOS Interactive.
RedPolka has received funding of $250,000 from five angel investors. Vishakha Singh said on receiving seed funding “One of the investors is associated with an international venture capital fund. The other one works in the banking sector while the rest are people working as senior executives with multinational companies. All of them are known angel investors.” She further added “Our aim is to build consumer engagement. Thirty per cent of our consumers almost come on a daily basis.”
Online Fashion segment is witnessing lot of events that include funding and launch of mobile apps to name few. Recently Flipkart’s fashion portal Myntra.com moved to mobile space. Competitors like Wooplr Technologies and Roposo have raised funding recently. All these companies are backed well known PE houses such Helion and Tiger Global.
