Quikr, one of India’s largest online classified service has acquired Salosa, on-Demand beauty service provider to strengthen its home services vertical, QuikrServices. The acquisition comes as a part of the $37.5 Million fund Quikr had kept aside to boost its services segment.
Salosa was started in September 2015 by Anurag Nair and Piyush Dhanuka. It has been a partner of Quikr for the QuikrServices segment, however, the acquisition will further strengthen its position. It was initially started as an online marketplace for freelancers providing services in the beauty segment, however, with time, it employed an in-house team to take control over the services and clients.
Speaking on the development, PD Sundar, Head of QuikrServices said that beauty industry is worth $5 Billion in India and it is really taking off in smaller cities. Players like Salosa will help Quikr betting big on the emerging markets and win customers through the quality offerings.
Quikr has been pretty aggressive with the services segment, After launching QuikrServices in October last year, it has tied up with quite a few big and smaller players to capture the market and build a brand. Currently, it boasts of over 250,000 service providers and claims to serve over 100,000 customers everyday.
