At the Microsoft’s Developer conference Build 2014, the firm announced a couple of new partners that will come up with Windows Phone devices. One of these partners is Prestigio that has its headquarters in Cyprus.
Prestigio may be new to the Windows Phone market, but it is not a stranger to the smartphone or tablet arena. The firm is already renowned for the launch of entry-level and mid-range Android devices, mostly with dual SIM functionality.
Now, the firm has come up with a couple of Windows Phone smartphones dubbed Multiphone 8400 DUO and Multiphone 8500 DUO that are again dual SIM phones with 3G connectivity onboard. When it comes to other specifications, the devices arrive with common aspects such as 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 8 MP primary camera and a front-facer for video calling along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for seamless connectivity.
The higher end Multiphone 8500 DUO features a 5 inch HD 720p display that employs 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage space without additional storage support. The handset is priced at $210 for the SIM free version.
Coming to the Multiphone 8400 DUO, the device is fitted with a 4 inch IPS display that has a WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels and uses downgraded specs including 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of native storage space. Unfortunately, even this phone with a low storage capacity lacks expandable storage support as there is no micro SD card slot. The Mutliphone 8400 DUO is priced at $110 and it will be made available from August 20.
Prestigio already retails its lineup throughout Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia and these devices are also believed to arrive in these regions. Furthermore, the aspects such as dual SIM support, low price point and mid-range specs tip that these handsets are aimed at the developing markets.
