Practo acquires FitHo – fitness solutions segment through the acquisition. Bengaluru based Practo, a marketplace for doctors has acquired Delhi based digital fitness solution platform. FitHo for an undisclosed amount in stock and cash deal.
For Practo this is first acquisition and aims to become largest player in the online doctor search space in Asia. FitHo was founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneur Dhruv Gupta and his wife Prachi Gupta helps people manage weight and lifestyle diseases by building technology based products that provide personalised advice to consumers
FitHo has 65,000+ clients using their services focused on building products that help people live healthier. They have developed web and mobile based fitness app provides personalized fitness and lifestyle plans to individuals. The plans contain personalized meal plans and exercises. Workouts are available in video format.
FitHo has small team of fitness specialists, technology, and marketing and operations specialists. The company has partnered with organizations like health insurance companies, health and fitness brands. They also provide employee wellness programs for corporate like GE, Indiabulls, Vodafone and others.
Dhruv Gupta is serial entrepreneur and he founded many startups. He has graduated in Bachelor of Science in software engineering from University of Michigan in 2003. He started his career as senior analyst in Convergys Corporation in 2003 and moved as an Associate in Pricewaterhouse Coopers in 2005.
He co founded and business head of Firefly e Ventures Ltd in 2007, the company that owned DesiMartini.com. It was acquired by HT Media group in 2007. In 2011 Dhruv founded and became CEO of GKB Online – ecommerce and technology company for eyewear. It had online eyewear store with retailing designer brands of eyewear that covered sunglasses, eyeglasses and contact lenses. He integrated the company with 60 offline stores of GKB optical across India. He managed the company for 3.1 years and apart.
Dhruv Gupta also founded myspexshop.com – SaaS based ecommerce platform for eyewear companies, iFitFrame.com – Virtual Try on technology for retailing eyewear online and ShopGlasses – Online only e commerce for eyewear. He is the director of the GKB Online and FitHo.
Prachi Gupta is co founder of FitHo and Chief Operating Officer of the company. She has done graduation in Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Delhi University in 2003. Prachi has Masters in Advertising and Public Relation from Rai University in 2005 and has undergone Leadership and Management training program from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
She has published a book called Losing It- Making Weight Loss Simple in 2013. She started her career in Imprimis Life P Ltd as PR Executive. She worked for the company 1.5 years and moved to HMV Saregama India Ltd as Asst Manager in 2006. She was awarded best employee of RPG Group in 2008. She left the company in 2008 and moved as Marketing Manager for Pioneer Property Zone Services (ICS Realty Group) in 2010. She planned and executed the branding and marketing of Pacific Mall, New Delhi.
She co founded FitHo Ventures in 2011 and FitHo Wellness in 2012. Prachi helped in transition from an offline and online business model to a completely web based services.
After Practo acquisition Dhruv Gupta will join the company as Product Head for preventive health and Prachi Gupta will don the role General Manager – Operations, New Segments. All the 12 members of the FitHo will move to Bengaluru facility.
After acquisition Shashank ND founder and CEO of Practo said “This is our first of several acquisitions we are exploring. FitHo team brings onboard enormous talent and expertise to help us tap into the preventive segment. FitHo’s current offerings will be phased out over the next six months and Practo will launch a completely new preventive product that will leverage some of the technology from FitHo.”
He further added “We have enough cash with us and acquisition is one way of increasing the presence, adding more models and also filling certain gaps for our future growth. We are actively looking at more companies as part of this.”
Practo has presence in 37 cities in India along with international presence in Singapore and Philippines. The company is planning to expand in Mid East and South East Asia, Latin America and North Africa.
