Earlier this year, according to statistics Instagram was leading the bundle as the fastest growing social networking platform. Now it’s Pinterest and Tumblr’s turn, which have edged out the photo sharing app in heavy increase in active users. According to stats by Global Web Index number of Tumblr’s active users increases by 120% in last six months and meanwhile number of Facebook’s active users increased by just 2%.
Next to Tumblr, Pinterest comes in the list with 111% increase in the active users. which say that they have actually used the site with regularity. Earlier this year, Global Web Index has released stats which tells that Instagram is on top but it has now dropped to third place. Out of top eight, the next places are occupied by LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and Facebook. Remember, these number only refer to growth.
Tumblr comes in top place in growth, it still remains in eighth place of overall active users. Facebook remains in top place with maintaining considerable lead in terms of popularity, but social network seems it could be reaching its peak concentration for users.
In mobile apps segment, Snapchat saw the highest growth with 56% uptick in six months. Next place is occupied by Facebook messenger, though it isn’t very surprising because Facebook forced many of its users to download the companion app. Instagram is placed in third place and the list is followed by Line, Pinterest, Kakao Talk and Vine.
Global Web Index report’s author notes that Facebook has major challenges to face as it moves forward. Most of the users are feeling bored with Facebook and 50% of the US and UK members are using it far less regularly than they used too. As of now Facebook’ king status is safe, but the social media market is ever-saturating.
