The long wait for the Oculus fans seems to be getting over now. Oculus Rift Headset’s price has been confirmed and the pre orders are now open. As shown in the screenshot below, the headset costs $599 plus shipping in United States, the same goes to £499 in United Kingdom.
The VR headset needs a compatible PC to let you enter in the VR world, so if you do not own one yet, add that as the additional cost. Oculus is planning to get a combo of PC plus Oculus rift headset starting at $1499.
The rumors, which have been floating around since a bit of time, suggested Q1 2016 as the release date for Oculus Rift and it seems, the things are pretty much on track and there’s no delay for the same.
The touch controller for the headset, which will let you do a lot of cool stuffs, is not shipping with the headset, however, you can choose to get notified once it’s up for pre-order.
Oculus has already said that the headset will start shipping by second quarter of 2016, till then, the users will have to do with the Xbox One controller shipping with Oculus Rift.
The VR industry seems to be in early stage till now, so it’s still early to say how users will react to it and how value-for-money this deal is going to be, because it’s surely more expensive than the Oculus developers kit which was priced at $350. We shouldn’t be surprised if there’s a price cut few months after the official launch of the headset.
