It has been a year since the announcement of the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the handset was much acclaimed as it was the first ever Lumia device to incorporate the Pureview camera technology. Now, it appears like this device will be discontinued soon and if you want to grab the device this is the right time for the purchase.
According to a tweet by serial leaker @evleaks, the Lumia 1020 will hit its end on September 14, 2014. This could mean that the handset will no longer be considered a part of the Nokia retail lineup with an end of manufacturing more units and sales continuing only until the stocks last. However, Microsoft will definitely provide support to the device and honor the existing warranty.
While its 41MP camera is still considered one of the best smartphone cameras, the Lumia 1020 has been eclipsed by newer flagships that have arrived since its launch. It has a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 chipset is no longer the greatest chipset when comparing with the new generation of handsets now on sale with quad-core Snapdragon 800-series processors.
Furthermore, it has a 4.5-inch 1280×768 pixel display has been overshadowed too by newer devices with larger screens and Full HD 1920×1080 resolution panels and the first wave of devices featuring Quad HD 2560×1440 pixel displays like the LG G3.
