Nintendo TVii services to be closed from August

By | July 25, 2015

Nintendo TVii is the service for Wii U, which lets you find, watch and interact with television contents via Wii U Gamepad controller. If remember this Nintendo TVii, then its good but if you don’t remember then don’t worry, anyway this is shutting down on august 11.

If you are not aware of this or never used this Nintendo TVii, then let me explain you a bit. This device lets you interact with the television content. By using Wii U Gamepad, you can browse the channel guide and comment on the TV shows you are watching. When you find a TV program worth watching, then the Gamepad’s IR blaster will send the signal to the set-up box to change the channel.

Nintendo made an official announcement through a Miiverse post, “After almost 3 years of finding, watching and engaging with Nintendo TVii, we will be ending the service on 11th August 2015. At the same time, we will be closing the Nintendo TVii Miiverse community.”

From next month the update of Wii U will be out, which will remove the TVii functions from the gamepad. So if you have been using it and enjoying, then sorry for you as this is going to be closed, but for most of the people it doesn’t matter.

Bah, TVii has been dead to me for ages. They nerfed it over a year ago. When it launched, you could use it to search for any program across Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon, or your Cable provider. This was TVii’s best feature as far as I’m concerned, and they took that away years ago.

This is the equivalent of taking my T-bone steak off of life support, it was already dead.
