Ever wondered if you could keep a track of several parameters in the routine of your daily life? And later analyse and gather results and recommendations based on your personalized way of living? Neura is an Internet of Things United States-Israeli start-up co-founded by Gilad Meiri, Triinu Magi, Ori Shaashua and Gil Mahler whose goal is to give users a much better and systematic way of understanding their daily lives with a high priority on privacy. The company is in the process of developing a platform called Neura that allows a user to keep track, understand, personalize and even customize varying amounts of data related to their everyday lifestyle through the use of connected apps and devices which are integrated with the API and app.

What is an ‘Internet of Things’?

Neura Integration

Internet of Things or IoT in short can be defined as the network between devices, applications, vehicles, buildings, appliances and physical objects that are embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity which allows them to collect and exchange data with each other. It is the web which allows cross-platform and cross device interaction with one another in order to collectively gather relevant information and allows the joint use of several apps/devices to give an uniformed result. This can then be further analysed and customized in order to meet specifications according to the user.

Where is it found and used

Neura App

Neura is currently integrated with more than 50 apps and devices of which deal with fitness, lifestyle, routines, etc. The collected information can be transferred to the Neura timeline. This info can be accessed by the Neura application on your smartphone. A noteworthy device includes the BodyMedia FIT armband which is an activity tracking band that measures the intensity of your steps and monitors your sleep quality. When you add the BodyMedia FIT to Neura, it allows you to see your calories, steps, workouts and sleep quality on the timeline. The app also gives suggestions and recommendations based on the past data it collected. The more apps and devices connected to Neura, the more comprehensive the results.

Future Plans

Neura Funding

The future of Neura is looking bright as they just recently raised $11m Series A which also caught the attention of tech giant Lenovo. Series A is the name given to a company’s first significant round of venture capital financing. The name refers to the class of preferred stock sold to investors in exchange for their investment. The company also recently held a beta program with thousands of users. Co-founder and chief executive officer Gilad Meiri says Neura will use its new funding to promote the SDK, strike partnerships with tech companies, and hire more employees. With the IoT industry growing, Neura has already had a triumphant start.
