Microsoft extended the deadline to update Windows 8.1 till June 10


Microsoft at the time of release of Windows 8.1 warned the Windows users that they must update the Windows 8 before May 13. Today Microsoft has extended the deadline to install the Windows 8.1 update till June 10 to move to the update in order to continue to receive the fixes and patches form the Company. For the Business users the deadline to update Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 is still up to August 12.

Microsoft has also extended the deadline date for those who are updating using Windows Server Update Services, System center configuration and Windows Intune to update the user machines. Microsoft executives has extended the update deadline in response to the complaint from some users Microsoft is not going the enough time to install the update.

Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc has written on his blog post that, ” While we believe that most of the Windows 8 users have received the Windows 8.1 update, we recognized that not all have updated”. He also added that, “having our customers running their devices with the latest updates is important to us and we are committed to extend our full service and ensure their safety”.


Once again to make you clear, those who are using the Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows vista will continue to get the updates and security patches. This update deadline is only applicable to the Windows 8.1 users who need to install the hefty update that was released in April. Check whether your device is running on Windows 8 or 8.1 by going to PC Settings<<PC and Devices<<PC info. 

Majority of the Windows 8.1 users should have received this update automatically, but some of the users may have disabled automatic updates feature.

To install the latest update go to Settings<<Change PC settings<<Update and recovery<<Windows update. Click on the Check Now and select the View details. Now if you find the update with build number KB 2919355 then install it.
